I want to start off my annual letter by being thankful for what we achieved as an organization in 2018. By this I want to thank our Executive Director, Melissa Ehrhardt who has finished her first full year with us as Executive Director, our dedicated Staff, Volunteers (we couldn’t do what we do without them), and Board Members who provide their endless time to support the mission of the organization. We also want to thank the Children’s Rehabilitation Trust (CRC), our landlords for their nearly 40 years of partnership and support.
2019 begins my 8th year as serving on the AHHH Board Member and my 5th year as Board Chairman. Many might ask, “when do I intend to hand the reigns over to new leadership on our Board”. I am fully committed to this organization’s success and future and therefore I took the conscience effort to remain as Board Chairman (with the agreement of the overall Board) to ensure proper continuity and succession planning. This also included ensuring we took the strategic plans results into account for Board development.
Our focus for 2019 will be to finalize on our strategic plan that we started in late 2018, which was so generously awarded to us by the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta, Non-Profit Tool Box Grant. A big part of the strategic plan will give us guidance on moving forward with a 3-5year effort to grow and improve on our existing services. This includes looking at our current facility and its capabilities to support this growth initiative.
A little reminder about our organization and mission: the AHHH provides nearly 5,000+ guest accommodations per year and has been doing so since 1982. We’re bringing hospitality to guests and their families reducing the stress for those facing a medical crisis and playing a critical role in the overall healing and well-being of each person we serve!
The atmosphere is very home like and enables our guests to bond with one another. Many long-lasting bonds and friendships between guests are made while staying at the AHHH. Each guest is served a nightly meal and a warm bed, all managed by a seasoned friendly staff. I would encourage you to support the organization. Thank you for your ongoing support of the AHHH.
