Who We Are...

The Atlanta Hospital Hospitality House is “a home away from home” to patients and caregivers from outside of the city who have found themselves in need of lodging and support while seeking treatment inside the perimeter. Our caring staff and volunteers provide affordable lodging, home-cooked meals, and supportive companionship in an effort to improve the health and welfare of families in the midst of medical crisis.

The Atlanta Hospital Hospitality House (AHHH) was founded in 1979 by All Saints Episcopal Church in response to a call from Crawford Long Hospital (now Emory Midtown) for affordable housing to assist cardiac patients and their families.  For more than three decades, AHHH has provided over 30,000 patients and their families with approximately 140,000 nights of affordable and comfortable lodging with nutritious meals each evening.

We have served individuals and families experiencing a wide range of medical conditions including but not limited to, cardiovascular events, cancer, various organ transplants, autism, surgery, anxiety, PTSD, car accidents, and many more. AHHH supports guests in their times of need which allows them to focus on healing themselves or their loved one and to manage what is usually one of the largest crisis of their lives.  While our guests come from near and far across the country as well as from international locations, most are from the rural Southeast. 60% of our guests are from rural Georgia, where hospital closings and reductions in acute care services are obligating an increasing number of critically ill residents to come to Atlanta for medical treatment. Most people are not prepared for a medical crisis and in the midst of having to come to a new city, find themselves in an expensive hotel, sleeping in a waiting room,  and eating fast food (if eating at all). At AHHH, we want to help remove that burden of where to sleep and what to eat, so that guests can focus on the bigger picture.

Our home and property offer a serene, relaxing place to rest and recover. While we know that there is no place like home, we strive for AHHH to serve as a "home away from home" to guests and families. Full use of the property, laundry, kitchen, and wifi is available for guests and encouraged to be used.

Our requirements for staying here are simple; a guest must live 40 miles outside of Atlanta and must either be receiving medical services in an Atlanta medical facility, or be a family member or caregiver of an individual receiving medical treatment in Atlanta.  We gladly serve the patient receiving outpatient care and/or the caregiver.

We currently provide service to patients and family members at over 30 area hospitals and medical facilities including, but not limited to, Emory Healthcare (Emory Midtown, Emory University Hospital and all campus medical facilities), Marcus Autism Center, the VA Medical Center, Dekalb Medical Center, Emory Winship Cancer Institute, Kennestone Hospital, Shepherd Center, Grady Medical Center,  Hillside Atlanta,  Piedmont Hospital, Northside Hospital, Select Medical Facilities, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Kindred Hospital, and Wellstar Hospitals.

Thank you for your continued support of the Atlanta Hospital Hospitality House. We are honored to be a small part of restoration in the lives of those we serve.
